Pet advice boundaries

Our guides provide general shopping, care-planning and travel information. They are not diagnosis, treatment, individualized veterinary advice or medication instructions.

When to contact a veterinarian

Ask your veterinarian about symptoms, pain, mobility, skin problems, changes in drinking or urination, diet changes and medical travel needs. Do not delay professional care because of an article or buy a product to treat an undiagnosed problem.

Urgent situations

If you think your pet is in immediate danger or has a serious injury, breathing difficulty or possible poisoning, contact a local emergency veterinarian promptly. This site cannot assess emergencies.

Products and travel

Follow manufacturer instructions and stop using a product that causes distress or injury. Confirm airline and destination requirements directly. Never assume an everyday harness is a car restraint, a carrier is universally airline approved or a hotel accepts every species.
